The 4C Entity, LLC is pleased to announce that CPRM Specification, SD Memory Card Book, SD-SD Part, Revision 0.91 is now available. The new revision incorporates usage rules based on date and time, both of which were previously supported in the 4C Specification material for CPRM for SD-Audio revision 0.97. The rules require three types of clock function modalities to define previewing and recording rules for devices.

The 4C Entity, LLC is pleased to announce that licensing for a new CPRM Specification, SD Memory Card: SD-Separate Delivery Video Part (SD-SD Video), Revision 0.9 is now available. With the addition of the Compliance Rules for SD-SD Video, the License Agreement, including the Compliance Rule exhibits, is now at version 1.5. All new licensees will enter that document (or subsequent revisions, as appropriate). Since the change from the previous version is the addition of the new Specification and Compliance Rules, these documents will be provided to existing licensees for their use in association with their existing License Agreement. Since there is no mandatory change made in this revision, the use of the new Specification document and related Compliance Rules is effective upon this notice. You will find that the license language in the new version 1.5 of the 4C CPRM/CPPM License Agreement has not changed. The only changes are in the Compliance Rules.

The 4C Entity, LLC is pleased to announce that a white paper entitled "SDSD-CPRM: Flexible Protection for Content Protection" is now available. SDSD-CPRM (Secure Digital - Separate Delivery) is a new extension to the SD Memory Card that addresses the difficulties of sharing and protecting digital content. It uses Content Protection for Recordable Media methods defined by 4C Entity to separate encrypted digital content from the keys that release (decrypt) it. The SDSD-CPRM separate delivery mechanism greatly benefits the consumer, content provider, and device manufacturer. The consumer can freely manage and share encrypted content, the content provider is able to deliver and protect content, and the device manufacturer can develop products with a common SD Memory Card interface. This paper reveals the flexibility that SDSD-CPRM provides for sharing and moving digital content along with a detailed explanation of the CPRM implementation.

The 4C Entity, LLC would like to announce that Revised CPRM Specification, DVD Book, Revision 0.97a is now available. The revisions include correction of minor editorial errors, such as the recovery of material that was present in Revision 0.96 but missing in Revision 0.97. There are no technical updates in Revision 0.97a.

The 4C Entity, LLC is pleased to announce that it is now licensing a new CPRM Specification document -- CPRM Specification, SD Memory Card Book: SD-Separate Delivery Audio Part (SD-SD Audio), Revision 0.9 and New CPRM Specification document--SD Memory Card Book: SD-Separate Delivery Part (SD-SD), Revision 0.9 are now available-- subject to two new Compliance Rule exhibits to the 4C CPRM/CPPM License Agreement. The 4C CPRM/CPPM License Agreement, including the Compliance Rule exhibits, is now at version 1.4, and all new licensees should enter that document. Drafts of these Specification documents were previously circulated to Adopters for review and comment. The CPRM architecture of SD-SD handles Content Key(s) and encrypted content data. The Content Key is stored in the SD Memory Card. The encrypted content data may be stored in the same SD Memory Card or separately in another media such as HDD. The CPRM for SD-SD Audio document describes details to protect audio content in the SD-SD architecture. Changes have also been made to the 4C Ordering forms so that Adopters may order the necessary key material to implement these new capabilities.

The 4C Entity, LLC is pleased to announce that new CRPM Specification, SD Memory Card Book: SD-Separate Delivery Audio Part (SD-SD Audio), Revision 0.9 and CPRM Specification, SD Memory Card Book: SD-Separate Delivery Part (SD-SD), Revision 0.9 are now available. The CPRM architecture of SD-SD handles Content Key(s) and encrypted content data. The Content Key is stored in the SD Memory Card. The 4C Entity, LLC is pleased to announce that CPRM Specification, DVD Book, Revision 0.97 is now available. The revisions extend application of CPRM to the DVD-Video format recorded on CPRM compliant DVD media (i.e. DVD-R, DVD-RW, and DVD-RAM). Adopters are cautioned, however, that some changes to the Compliance Rules are being finalized, and this Specification may not be implemented under the 4C License Agreement until those changes are posted. So, the posted Specification referenced above is currently for information only.

The 4C Entity, LLC hereby notifies its Adopters that the prohibition on use of unprotected DVI outputs for audiovisual content originally protected using CPRM on products produced on or after December 31, 2006, is extended. The length of the extension (and the new "sunset date" for unprotected DVI outputs with regard to CPRM protected content) will be notified to Adopters as soon as possible. This date will be based on marketplace developments and established in coordination with other content protection organizations which have approved CPRM as an authorized recording technology.

The 4C Entity, LLC is pleased to announce that Version 1.4 of the CPRM For SD-Binding License Agreement including revised Authorized Use #1: Mobile Phones, is now available. Specifically, an SD-Binding Participating Device may pass Decrypted CPRM for SD-Binding Content to a third-party digital rights management technology which served as the original input for such Decrypted CPRM for SD-Binding Content as well as Decrypted CPRM Audio Content to an analog output.

This Addendum, when executed, allows existing Adopters of the CPRM for SD-Binding License Agreement to use CPRM in the commercial distribution of Commercial Content. This is to inform all 4C Licensees that 4C Entity, LLC has extended the deadlines contained in Section 4.2.1(ii)(c) of the CPPM Compliance Rules for DVD Audio (Exhibit C-1 to the CPRM/CPPM License Agreement) and in Section 4.2.1(ii)(c) of the CPRM Compliance Rules for Recording and Playback of Audio Content (Exhibit C-2 to the CPRM/CPPM License Agreement). The previous provisions prohibited the use of IEC 958/60958 outputs in Participating Players that are of models that are first introduced on or after October 1, 2005 and in all Participating Players made on or after December 31, 2006 (regardless of when a particular model is introduced). The extension of these dates is for three years in each case (i.e., with the listed outputs prohibited in models that are first introduced on or after October 1, 2008 and to any product made on or after December 31, 2009). The purpose of this notice is to clarify that these dates were extended earlier this year and the currently applicable sunset dates are October 1, 2008 and December 31, 2009, as noted above, permitting the continued use through those dates of the outputs that are permitted by Section 4.2.1(ii) in those products. 4C Entity will follow this posting with appropriate changes in the compliance rules that will be released in the near future.

This is to inform all 4C Licensees that 4C Entity, LLC will extend the deadlines contained in Section 4.2.1(ii)(c) of the CPPM Compliance Rules for DVD Audio (Exhibit C-1 to the CPRM/CPPM License Agreement ) and in Section 4.2.1(ii)(c) of the CPRM Compliance Rules for Recording and Playback of Audio Content (Exhibit C-2 to the CPRM/CPPM License Agreement). The 4C Entity, LLC is pleased to announce a new set of documents for use of CPPM and CPRM (Audio and Video) technologies. The new documents include:

• An updated version of the Adopter Agreement, where the major changes relate to an exposition of how Type C keys can be used in the 4C system. This new Agreement will be used effective immediately as the 4C's standard agreement for new Adopters. This means that any company signing the 4C agreement must use the new Agreement, even if they had previously downloaded the prior version. Existing Adopters will have the option to substitute this new agreement for their existing agreements, but this is not mandatory.
• Revised Compliance Rules for CPPM applications and both audio and video CPRM applications. These documents are applicable to all Adopters, including existing Adopters. 4C believes that none of the changes in these revisions requires a "grace period" and, accordingly, 4C considers these revised rules to be effective immediately. These will also be provided to all Adopters with a specific notice in accordance with their agreements with 4C.

Licensing for this new functionality will be available very shortly, in the form of an addendum to the basic CPRM/CPPM License Agreement. Notice to Adopters 4C Entity is making available SD Binding Development Device Keys and MKB’s, prior to signing a CPRM FOR SD-BINDING LICENSE AGREEMENT, on a limited time basis*, subject to the following requirements:

• Licensee company must be a current 4C CPRM/CPPM licensed Adopter in good standing
• Adopter letter must affirm that Adopter agrees to be bound to the terms and conditions of the CPRM FOR SD-BINDING LICENSE AGREEMENT prior to the execution of the CPRM FOR SD-BINDING LICENSE AGREEMENT

The 4C Entity, LLC Pursuant to section 4.4 of the CPRM/CPPM Adopter Agreement, a triennial adjustment in Unit Fees is required to reflect changes in the Producer Price Index (PPI). The applicable PPI adjustment for this triennial period is an increase of 4.3%, and that increase was to be effective April 15, 2004. While this increase is automatic under the Agreement, 4C Entity, LLC has decided to take the necessary action to keep Unit Fees at the same levels as previously charged. Accordingly, there will be no increase in Unit Fees effective April 15, 2004. 4C will continue to review such triennial Unit Fee adjustments on a case-by-case basis.

4C Entity, LLC hereby informs Adopters and other interested parties that it intends to adopt new CPPM Compliance Rules for DVD Audio, The proposed new Rules are posted for review, and are expected to be finalized by the end of 2003. In the meantime, 4C has authorized content companies and replicators to use the new bit settings contained in the posted document for content that will be released prior to the finalization of the entire document..

A read-only version of the final 4C CPRM/CPPM License Agreement, which includes a Development use provision, is now available. This new license replaces both the 4C Interim CPRM/CPPM License Agreement and the Development Key Evaluation Agreement. The Compliance and Robustness Rules will be posted at a later date. The license is for use by both potential licensees wishing to begin using the CPRM/CPPM technology and current licensees who have already executed either the Interim CPRM/CPPM License Agreement or Development Key Evaluation Agreement.

All current licensees wishing to continue using the CPRM/CPPM technology must execute the new 4C CPRM/CPPM License Agreement by April 30, 2001.

The 4C Entity, LLC has extended the CPRM / CPPM Development Key Evaluation Agreement. This agreement is valid through, and can be executed through Februry 28, 2001 and the Development Keys and MKB's can be used until March 30, 2001. The 4C Entity, LLC has also extended the interim CPRM / CPPM Adopters Agreement. This agreement is valid through, and can be executed through February 28, 2001 and Production Keys and MKB's can be ordered through this agreement.

The 4C Entity, LLC has posted a new CPRM for DVD specifications version 0.94. This version describes CPRM for DVD-RAM, for DVD-R, and for DVD-RW. A new ordering form has be posted in the interim CPRM / CPPM Adopters Agreement area titled CPRM / CPPM Ordering Forms .

The 4C Entity, LLC has extended the CPRM / CPPM Development Key Evaluation Agreement. This agreement can now be executed through October 1, 2000 and the Development Keys and MKB's can be used until November 1, 2000.

If you currently have a fully executed Development Agreement that expires on July 1, 2000 and we have not contacted you by July 1, 2000 please contact us. We will assist you with the process of extending your current agreement.

Due to security concerns expressed by the recording industry, among others, as a result of the recent "hack" of the CSS video technology, the 4C Entity, LLC has withdrawn the CSS2 technology from consideration for use in relation to DVD Audio products.
